Shenzhen, China - October 26, 2026 - MYIR, a provider of embedded System-on-Modules (SoMs) and hardware solutions, introduces the MYC-JS8MPQ, a compact SMARC 2.2 System-on-Module powered by the NXP i.MX 8M Plus processor. Combining a quad-core 1.6 GHz Arm Cortex-A53 CPU, an 800 MHz Cortex-M7 real-time core, a 2.3 TOPS NPU, and a 3D GPU, the module targets edge AI gateways, industrial automation, machine vision, intelligent HMI, medical devices, and power system applications. It joins MYIR's SMARC 2.2 family alongside the i.MX 95-based MYC-JMX95X and the Rockchip RK3576-based MYC-JR3576, giving developers a pin-compatible path to scale across processor platforms.

Measuring 82 mm × 50 mm, the MYC-JS8MPQ combines four Arm Cortex-A53 cores running at up to 1.6 GHz for application processing with an 800 MHz Cortex-M7 core for real-time control. The integrated 2.3 TOPS NPU provides edge AI inference acceleration, complemented by a 2D/3D GPU for graphics and a 1080p60 VPU with H.265/H.264 encoding and decoding. A dual ISP delivering up to 375 MPixels/s with HDR and fisheye correction supports simultaneous multi-camera vision designs, making the module well suited for machine vision and visual AIoT applications.
The MYC-JS8MPQ integrates memory, wireless connectivity, security components, a Gigabit Ethernet PHY, and a USB 3.0 hub in a compact design. Its main hardware features include:
Processor: NXP i.MX 8M Plus (MIMX8ML8CVNKZAB, industrial grade), quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A53 at 1.6 GHz plus a Cortex-M7 real-time core at 800 MHz
AI Performance: Integrated 2.3 TOPS NPU and 2D/3D GPU, with a dual ISP (375 MPixels/s, HDR support)
Memory & Storage: 2GB/4GB LPDDR4 with inline ECC, 16GB/32GB eMMC, and 32Kbit EEPROM
Wireless Connectivity: Onboard Wi-Fi 6 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and Bluetooth 5.4 module
Security: Independent TPM 2.0 security chip and the i.MX 8M Plus built-in security subsystem (secure boot, Arm TrustZone, crypto acceleration), with an onboard Power Management IC (PMIC)
Expansion: 314-pin SMARC 2.2 connector providing signals for dual Gigabit Ethernet (1× TSN-capable), 1× PCIe Gen3 x1, 2× USB 3.0 Host, 2× USB 2.0 Host, 1× USB 2.0 OTG, 2× CAN FD, 4× UART, 2× SPI, 5× I2C, 1× SD/SDIO 3.0, 3× PWM, and 2× SAI. Display and camera connectivity includes HDMI, MIPI-DSI (multiplexed with LVDS1), 2× LVDS, and 2× MIPI-CSI interfaces.
Operating Temperature and Design: −40°C to +85°C (industrial grade); 10-layer PCB design; +5V/2A power supply
Interface counts represent the maximum signals listed for the expansion interface. Some signals are multiplexed; please refer to the processor datasheet and SOM pinout documentation for configuration details.
Accelerate Development with the MYD-JS8MPQ Companion Board
The MYD-JS8MPQ development board combines the MYC-JS8MPQ SOM with a universal carrier board that is compatible with all MYIR SMARC SOMs. It provides evaluation interfaces for dual Gigabit Ethernet, a Mini PCIe socket with dual Micro SIM support for 4G/5G modules, an M.2 Key-B PCIe socket for NVMe SSD, and MicroSD storage. USB connectivity includes 2× USB 3.0 Host, 1× USB 2.0 Host, and 1× USB 2.0 OTG. For display and imaging evaluation, the board supports HDMI, MIPI-DSI, and LVDS, together with two MIPI-CSI camera inputs and audio I/O. Dual CAN FD, RS485, and RS232 share a single Phoenix connector. These interfaces provide a platform for rapid prototyping with i.MX 8M Plus solutions.
